Technology advancement has accelerated the digital transformation of industries, resulting in an increasing demand for skilled talent in information technology (IT). To address the pressing needs for IT talent across industries, VTC established the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT) in November 2023. The first cohort of HKIIT students commenced their studies in 2024/25 academic year.
HKIIT has been developed from the IT discipline of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education to an IT specialised institute. As Hong Kong’s first dedicated tertiary institution for grooming IT talent, HKIIT offers comprehensive IT and relevant technology programmes covering in two areas of information and communications technology and digital media and entertainment technology.

Equips students with expertise in developing and administering business and innovative IT solutions, network systems, cloud computing, big data, data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and smart technologies.

Equip students with core creative industry skills including computer graphics, digital media, virtual reality, interactive technology, computer games and animation, theme park and theatre creative technology, esports technology and drone and entertainment technology.
IT Skills
The programmes offered by the HKIIT cover all aspects of IT and are designed to provide students with the latest knowledge and skills to develop a career in this exciting and rapidly changing environment. Students will be able to develop and support all types of computer and information systems commonly used.
